Newsnet Enhancements: SMS Service Update - January, 2011
We have made some recent development changes on the Newsnet platform which has enabled the sending of SMS over 160 characters.
Newsnet now supports SMS 'Chaining', where messages over 160 characters will automatically be chained into a single message on the receivers mobile. This means instead of a maximum of 160 characters, messages of up to 459 characters can be sent, giving you more flexibility with the content of your message.
This has automatically been implemented in the Newsnet platform for users with the default 'SMS' service from 21st January 2011.
SMS over 160 characters will incur additional message charges as follows;
Up to 160 Characters charged at 1 x SMS
Up to 306 Characters charged at 2 x SMS
Up to 459 Characters charged at 3 x SMS

Digital Marketing Seminar - August, 2010
A big thanks to Allen Nance from the Mansell Group for coming out and talking about Digital marketing.
There were some informing points made about treating your customer database as an asset and the difference a quality database can make to your maketing campaigns.
A ripe and current database, with as much information about the customer as possible can be utilized to target that customer with their specific needs and wants creating a much richer experience.

Fax Marketing & the Do Not Call Register - June 2010
Did you know that Fax Marketing is now covered under the Do Not Call Register?
On 30th May 2010 amendments to the Do Not Call Register came into effect allowing for Australian Fax Numbers to be entered on the register. This means that any business sending marketing faxes, or arranging for a fax to be sent must make sure the fax number is not on the Do Not Call Register

The Do Not Call Register ACT was put in place in 2006 by the Australian government to regulate the Telemarketing industry and allow consumers, if they do not wish to receive any Telemarketing Calls to 'opt out' by adding their number to the register. Placing a number on the register should ensure that the number is exempt from most Telemarketing calls for 5 years. This register has now been expanded to include Fax numbers.
Fax Marketers must ensure that their contact lists are 'washed' against the register every 30 days to be up to date with the registers list, unless their business is exempt from the register or they have received consent from the person.
The Register is also considering making an industry standard for the Fax Marketing industry which would include some rules around when and how often you can send to a number and information contained on the fax relating to the sender.
Newsnet is now offering a list 'washing' service against the register to help you comply with the new changes Do Not Call Act, as well as providing any information you may need about the register.

The Australian Promotional Marketing Association (APMA) is soon to hold it's annual Star Awards 2010. APMA represents leading Promotional Marketing Agencies in Australia and New Zealand.
The award event is in it's 5th year and the quality of contestants are raising the bar. "Star Awards honour the year's most outstanding promotional marketing campaigns. Designed to generate both industry and public recognition of excellence in the area of promotional marketing".

Newsnet Enhancements: Net Connect Web Service - October, 2009
We are pleased to announce that Newsnet has just released its new Web Service NetConnect.
Web services allow different applications from different sources to communicate with each other without time-consuming custom coding, and because all communication is in XML, Web services are not tied to any one operating system or programming language.
NetConnect will enable customers to connect their applications to our messaging platform quickly and securely, offering faster and more reliable deployment of solutions.
NetConnect will take advantage of the new Microsoft Azure Cloud, which means not only does it provide a highly fault tolerant platform, it also automatically scales up and down depending on usage.

Newsnet Enhancements: New Mailmerge Platform - August, 2009
New Mailmerge Platform has arrived and is now available to API and Managed customers.
Using mail merge allows you to personalize your campaigns for a more effective message to your target audience, which promises to capture the recipient's attention and generate a higher response rate.
The new mail merge platform has been completely rewritten from the ground up to encapsulate the latest technology and to merge documents up to 8 x faster than the previous mail merge platform.
This new service is currently only available to our API and Managed customers, but will soon be available to use from the Web Portal.

We have made some exciting new changes to the Newsnet site which will be implemented from the 1st July 2009. When you log into your Newsnet account you will see considerable cosmetic changes to enhance the look and feel. All the usual functionality is still there and some new functionality changes have also been implemented making the site faster, cleaner and more intuitive.

Newsnet Enhancements - November, 2008
As part of our ongoing Enhancement Program, Newsnet completed a relocation of it's messaging platform on Thursday November 27th. We have now relocated to a more robust hosting centre. We have also use this opportunity to replace some of our older equipment.
This change means that we will able to provide improved reliablibity and service.
